When Andy was first in touch about his and Jacqui’s plans for a wedding in York, I was excited to find that it was at the most splendid venue in the historic city, Gray’s Court.

I absolutely adored this wedding, everything fitted into place brilliantly, the venue, the gardens, the weather… the super relaxed Jacqui and Andy who remained ultimately at ease even through our brief jaunt around York’s historic centre posing for portraits including selfies taken with drunken football fans.

This luxurious, boutique hotel has a fantastic hidden garden, surrounded by the City Walls which makes for a beautiful, tranquil sun trap where their guests enjoyed a late spring reception…

The day began at Gray’s with Jacqui was in the Cumberland Suite undergoing relaxed hair and make up preparations.

Their ceremony was performed in the intimate and beautifully decorated Sterne room, with sunlight beaming through the bay window…

Everyone then retired to the stunning gardens to sun themselves and quaff pimms, a quintessentially English scene with the backdrop of the incredible York Minster.

A quick wander around the streets of York, intermingling with Saturday football fans, shoppers and tourists. I always love the reactions of bystanders to a couple in wedding attire, it always garners some lovely wishes of congratulations and even bouts of spontaneous applause. This time is was no different and we swung back via Chapter House lane, again framing Jacqui and Andy in the amazing context of the York Minster.

A beautiful meal was served in the opulent, timber clad Long Gallery followed by speeches and then an evening of revelry… a perfect way to round of an absolutely splendid day. Thanks again to Rhiannon and her team for making the day go so smoothly… I’ll hope to be back soon!
